New Year's Eve 2004 - Paris and other cities recs
Q:Am looking for a cool place with food, cocktails, and music for New Year's in Paris....thoughts?

-- "Stephanie R"

A:Kristina P, our woman on the ground in Paris, says:
"I would probably go for the more chilled chic of Favela Chic because I love their food and dancing on the tables...For a larger club night out, Le Redlight is hosting the DJs from the Ministry of Sound (34, rue du Depart, 15th) although I don't know if they do food...Amnesia, in the Tour Montparnasse, is also quite in these days, especially with the gay hairdressers at Carita, although it is not a gay club...I have to say that finding something that is a good for dancing as for eating is rather hard, Cabaret is a standard I guess, although I find them a bit OTT, sometimes...Although, now that I think about it, I guess Barramundi would be a good combo of eating and dancing with attitude but not too much fuss...."

And to answer all the questions coming in....
This year is the year to go away.
So quick! Book a flight to - top destinations - Senegal, Panama, and of course Switzerland - but that's because that's where I'll be (!)

If you're staying or in the U.S.:

Miami is the city to be in: specifically the Shelborne Hotel event hosted by JP Parlevecchio and the party at the Shore Club are our two choices. Though the one being hosted by Paris Hilton does make it cheese-central. Lindsay Lohan is said to be attending so maybe there will be catfight during the countdown.

In NY, we're pointing people to Joonbug's Capitale event. You can say we sent you.
Or for a quieter evening, perhaps dinner at Riingo would be interesting. See our review for the dishes we like and don't miss out on the green tea doughnuts.

Montreal? Check out Wunderbar.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1....I'm off to Megeve, my darlings....
