Only 22
Q:I've been doing the whole NYC night scene for years (and I'm only 22)... there's never been a lounge I couldn't get into and doormen I couldn't befriend... however, it seems that my job might be leading me to LA, a place I'm completely unfamiliar with. I've heard that LA is just like NYC with better weather, but I'm extremely skeptical. What's your take on it? I'll also be taking a exploratory trip out there with a guy friend... what is the best way to get on all the right lists? Can you recommend a service similar to Fast Metropolis? Thanks!

Best,

This is a little scary to me.
You've been partying for how long?
And you're legal to drink for how long?
Do you know, you're my BABY brother's age!?!
(You've inspired me to check out Baby Brother Lo-Jack.)

L.A. is NOT "like NYC but with better weather".
It's the opposite of NY.

1. The most important thing about L.A. that you need to learn, and repeat after me:
Make three plans for every one you want to keep.
Why is this?
For some reason, L.A. is Fuh-lakey Central.
Sorry Angelenos, tis true. (And you know it!)
Two of your plans will always cancel and then you'll be left with one.

As to the rest of it?
2. Get a good car, preferably one with Sirius satellite radio.
Cause you'll be spending a lot of time in it.

3. People in L.A. are more beautiful but dress worse.
(I always come home with pink clothes - what is that all about.)

4. L.A. is a reservation town. Make them before you leave. And keep them.

5. Make friends with your doormen. It's an industry town and half of them want to get discovered.
You are in The Business or have some friends in it, n'est-ce pas?

6. You NEED to know Brent Bolthouse.
He's THE guy in L.A.

7. Of course. Mint Lifestyle. See our L.A. Services section (Ahem. I know you READ us before asking, right?)

Send my regards to Brent B and Steven at Mint and enjoy the sunshine!
