Mr. Chow's Tribeca
121 Hudson Street
212 965 9500

Expensive Chinese food comes downtown. Wait, Jean Georges beat you there Chow. The difference is the wall to wall celebs. How long that will last is highly in question. So expect to pay your mortgage (and your future children's mortgage) for noodles, soup dumplings and the Chinese fare he made so pricey, er famous, uptown. Popular with the Jessica Simpsons and Emmy Rossums of the world (yes, both were there on nights we were), it's really more like hanging out in Hollywood than it is eating. Sadly for you (cleverly for them) the bar is only for reservation-holding diners so no quickie run drinkie here. We say, come once for the scene, and then head over, just a skip away, to Chinatown, where those who know soup dumplings dine.
