Ono
18 Ninth Avenue
212 660 6700

Rumours of one of Hollywood's power actor couples at the opening have created nothing short of a stampede for this restaurant. Though the months of waiting for Ono to open already had the crowd out of control: 1400 people RSVPd to the launch party. What is an Oh Yes from Jeffrey Chodorow (Mix in New York, China Grill, Blue Door, Asia de Cuba) is in fact a restaurant designed by Jeffrey Beers (whom Chodorow worked with on rumjungle in Vegas.) A neo- Japanese “inspired” restaurant (we love that – not actually, just “inspired”…) and serves up imaginative sushi and Robatayaki in the O Bar, Bar and tea Gardens, Cabanas and Tatami room. Chodorow is hoping people will practically move into Ono, entertaining and hosting at Ono, and ultimately calling it their second home. He and Beers say the future of dining is entertainment. Our response? Jeffrey, considering one of the cabanas has an actual Japanese soaking tub, we’re almost certain that people will feel “entertained”...
