Despite the obnoxious stereotypical name (Guess objectifying Asian women is still en vogue with some folks), the owners of Serafina, have a hit on their hands. Michael Vernon, ex Ripert- protégé at Le Bernardin, serves up grilled shrimp lollipops on sugarcane and miso- marinated chicken salad skewers. More traditional sushi is also offered and superbly done, with at least one chef (Chef Yoshida) lifted from another one of our favourite spots, Brasserie 360. Fortunately there's more to Geisha than the retro, stereotype- promoting name. Although suddenly- ubiquitous Lionel Ritchie HAS already been spotted eating here, so maybe the retro part is still alive and well...
