It wasn't Elmo's quiet opening that put it on the map. It was the flurry of endless Summer and Fall parties culminating in Patricia Field's after party that suddenly brought the Chelsea spot into high relief. Although they claim it's NY ethnic inspired, we looked hard between the layers of the goat cheese tart, the noodles in the mac and cheese, and the leaves in the chicken caesar salad, and while we found no ethnic, the tasty food did tickle our stomach (sorry, couldn't resist). The one thing we can say is NY inspired is the frou frou service. We're not sure if it's that this is our new Cafeteria that keeps us coming back or that we've been thus far unsuccessful at slipping the Ross Bleckner above the bar under our shirt....
