The Red Door Spa's new location hasn't changed its reliability as a beautification place for ladies of New York. In its old location up the street, it had been prettying up women as far back as a hundred years (that's right, 100! Under those unitard swimsuits, they had a bit of waxing going on.) Now, with a new home, and Cornelia as its director, the spa continues to offer the classics, the Signature Facial, Essential Facial, classic stone, Swedish, and deep tissue massages. But also a host of modern offerings, such as a Phyto Organic Rescue Facial, or combo Oxygen Collagen facial, the wonderful Pregnancy Massage (ooooooh) or the excellent Back Facial (bit of spring/ fall cleaning everyone needs considering we actually felt ten pounds lighter coming out.) What this spot does so well is provide precisely what you want from a spa, the expected level of pampering without overdoing it for those who get freaked out by fuss. Coming out somewhat cleaner, prettier and renewed while at the same time not requiring you to submit to some kind of in- patient sanctuary, Red Door is luxury without being over-scented, and thoughtful without being over-conceptualised.
