Gansevoort South 2377 Collins Avenue 305 604 1000 What used to be home to the East Coast’s largest resort, the Roney Plaza, is now home to the East Coast’s longest seamless shark tank with 27 types of fish, now housed with the chic Gansevoort South Hotel, Spa and Residences. Though everything seems to be going the way of mixed-use development, our focus is on the 334 hotel rooms done up by architect Stephen B. Jacobs and interior designer Andi Pepper. As ever with Miami spots, the outdoors and the beach is the focus where a pool deck overlooks the eternity pool trimmed with Bisazza glass tiling that faces the ocean, alongside a partially shaded jacuzzi, volleyball courts, and a seating area with oversized lounges and cabanas. There will be the usual luxuries, such as 24 hour in room dining, accoutrements such as plush feather mattresses with 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens, Hi-Def LCD TVs, free high speed, iPod docks, cordless phones, same day laundry and valet, with the best booking in house the 3500 square foot Presidential Suite of two master bedrooms, two living rooms, an entertainment room, and an outdoor deck. We expect though that for you, our readership, the destination at night will really be the rooftop, with its pool, palm trees and cabanas. Also part of the hotel is STK and Philippe Chow restaurants, a David Barton gym and spa, INCA and Big Drop stores, a Cutler hair salon, and the Miami office of Wilhelmina Models. Guess who will also be hanging out on the roof? |
