Citizen Smith 1600 North Cahuenga Boulevard 323 461 5001 This restaurant is so L.A. Seriously. It's kind of semi futuristic with faux chandeliers inside silk screened plexiboxes, pseudo goth with walnut furniture and blasting Eurodance. Great local wines, terrible mojitos, we loved the pork chop with brandy demi glaze and jalapeno mac and cheese. Pass on the pasta with grilled veggies, it's bland. Expect to spend all evening here, either waiting for your table, or getting your food as the kitchen is slow and unaccomodating, however the eats are not pricey, your neighbouring tables are friendly and more than one movie mogul is there taking out his or her current PYT. Fun overall, it is a welcome addition in a neighbourhood which, as our friend says, "has only five places that have opened up and saved me from eating at Denny's." Chef Taylor Boudreaux chats up tables and while Alain Ducasse he's not, this is a super alternative to the mega clubs. |
