Behind a seriously questionable nightclub, in a cute little alley, is this superb fish restaurant on the site of a former 1950s sausage factory. Owned by Ray de Fazio and and Rupert Hill, the old-fashioned room serves up fresh fish done a variety of ways (baby turbot, braised oxtail, or the more traditional fish and chips with mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce), super sides, and crazy desserts, all in a musical setting of Nina Simone and Etta James and architectural setting of original tile work, marble table tops and low hanging lights. Popular at lunch, we think this is an undiscovered nightime alternative for dates - though check their hours as they are dark at unexpected times. p.s. we like the ceviches best.
