This Week's HipBites
SoBe Wine and Food and WMC
Where the filmheads have Cannes and Sundance, foodies have the South Beach Wine & Food
Festival.
And this year it's at the exact same time as Winter Music Conference.
We'll eat ourselves silly.
Then we'll dance all night to the best music in the world.
In Miami.
Every foodie in the world will be clamouring to learn something new, check out what's
doing and taste the creations of
the chefs in attendance, which this year include:
Emeril Lagasse, Alain Ducasse, Bobby Flay, Eric Ripert, Alton Brown, Rachael Ray,
Tyler Florence, and Ming Tsai.
The big event is Sunday's Grand Tasting and the champagne- happy Bubble Q.
Other hip highlights include Saturday's Interactive lunch and the Wine seminars also
begin on Saturday.
This year the classic but usually sedate conference is all firey as the
gossips all remarked on the absence of chef Rocco DiSpirito's participation.
Industry insiders claim
that he and the owner of his spot Rocco's on 22nd Street,
Jeffrey Chodorow got into a tussle and Jeffrey won, punting the publicity- happy Rocco off
the conference. While we can neither confirm nor deny, we're looking forward to seeing
the ever- fabulous Chodorow, who will be honoured at this year's conference.
Even better, while SoBe Wine and Food goes from March 5 to 7, WMC continues on afterwards.
See the right column for a list of parties at WMC that we're liking...
We'll be getting a tan during Winter, waddling in aquamarine waters, and
eating the best nibbles in the world.....
