Umbria 295 Franklin Street 617 338 1000 Nothing at all like the region for which it's named, this Italian spot is pricey and consistently considered the Best of Boston for its good food, but know that if you've been to the actual place in Italy, you will be confused. Landlocked Umbria isn't known for its seafood but we guess you couldn't be a Boston restaurant without serving some so here it is. Umbrian wine also isn't expensive but it sure is here, with many bottles significantly marked up. If you can deal with the sticker shock, the food is relatively good. A baked pasta dish with truffles, olives and mushrooms; seared scrod with parsley root and oxtail risotto are the standouts. |
